A couple of weekends ago, we decided to get some nature. Every time we do a city escape, we have to book and rent a car, so despite the weather, we have to commit regardless.
The day turned out to be rainy and foggy, but we set off for Point Reyes Lighthouse anyway. The lighthouse is located at the end of a peninsula where you have to drive through dairy farms and lots of cows to get there. The fog was so thick that we couldn’t even see 50 feet in front of the car so it was very into the mist.
We parked at the parking lot which turned out to be full. (Good to know that we’re not the only committed nature people against all obstacles.) It’s a short hike to the stairs of the lighthouse, which on a clear day, you can probably see the coasts and the ocean.
There are 300 stairs down to the lighthouse, and yes, you have to climb the 30 stories to get back up. But the view is pretty worth it. We’ll definitely have to come back when it’s sunny.
